The Course in Emergency Asthma Management is principally designed to provide participants the necessary information, skills and confidence to assist a person during an asthma 'attack'. On completion participants will be equipped to assess and manage an asthma emergency, be able to recognise signs and symptoms of worsening asthma and to carry out Asthma First Aid. There are six elective modules that address specific asthma management issues within specialised settings: Children's services, workplace, schools, sport, remote area and supported care

Course Content:
  • Recognising the early signs and symptoms of deteriorating asthma
  • Identify equipment used treating asthma
  • Demonstrate the emergency Asthma First Aid Plan
  • Correct cleaning and storage requirements for an asthma emergency kit.
  • Specific Content for relevant module
Assessment Criteria: Practical assessment to demonstrate understanding of Asthma and treatment procedures will be undertaken at end of session
Nationally Recognised Training: The course is nationally recognised under licence with Practical Outcomes  (RTO  21857)
Legislative Approvals: Your Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment has been accredited by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority and entered on the National Training Information Service and is recognised under the 'Children's Services Act' - Vic & NSW.
Notes: Due to the practical components of the course, participants are advised to wear comfortable casual attire. Please bring a pen.
