The Apply First Aid Training is aimed towards first aid in the workplace or general community. All dates and times are flexible to meet your workplace needs and all trainers are accredited with paramedical experience.

Prerequisites: Students must be 14 years or older
Nominal Duration: Pre course workbook plus 1 day training
Award Issued: Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment
Course Inclusions: First Aid Manual
Course Content:
  • Management of Emergency Situations
  • Management of an acute medical illnesses
  • Assess an emergency situation
  • Maintain the airway, breathing and circulation of an unconscious casualty
  • Administer First Aid for Minor Wounds & Apply Infection Control Procedures
  • Manage a casualty with external bleeding
  • Manage a casualty suffering from shock
  • Administer First Aid for Burns & Electric Shock
  • Administer First Aid for Eye & Soft Tissue Injuries
  • Manage a casualty suffering Head / Chest / Abdominal Injuries
  • Administer First Aid for Venomous Bites & Stings and Allergic Reactions
  • Administer First Aid for Spinal Injuries & Fractures
  • Determine Principles for the Assessment and Movement of the Sick & Injured & First Aid Recording Requirements
  • Explain the legal and social responsibilities of a first aider
  • Determine first aid facilities and training requirements
Assessment Criteria: Practical Assessment & Multiple Choice Written Assessment
Nationally Recognised: The course is nationally recognised training
Legislative Approvals: Conforms to the requirements of Victoria Occupational Heath & Safety Authority First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice, 1995
Legislative Requirements: Legislative approval valid for 3 years from the completion date
Annual CPR updates are recommended.
Notes: Participants are advised to wear comfortable casual clothing.
